Houston police are actively investigating a fatal crash that took place at approximately 1:50 a.m. on Sunday, November 5, at 13500 East Freeway (East Interstate Highway 10).

The victims of the tragic incident, a 46-year-old woman and an 11-year-old girl, are currently awaiting verification of their identities by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

According to authorities, the initial incident involved two vehicles in a minor collision on the eastbound main lanes of the East Freeway, near the mentioned location. Following the collision, the occupants of both vehicles exited their respective vehicles and were on the north shoulder of the freeway.

As Houston Police Department (HPD) patrol officers arrived on the scene and began establishing a barrier around the area, a black Jeep Cherokee traveling at a high rate of speed drove around the patrol vehicles and struck several individuals involved in the initial crash. The Jeep subsequently rolled several times before coming to a stop on the main lanes. The driver of the Jeep fled the scene without offering any assistance.

Tragically, the two female victims were pronounced deceased by Houston Fire Department paramedics who responded to the scene. Two males, aged 22 and 49, who were involved in the original crash, sustained major injuries and were transported to local hospitals for treatment.

Authorities are urging anyone with information about the whereabouts of the driver of the black Jeep Cherokee to contact the HPD Hit and Run Unit at 713-247-4072 or provide anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
