Man Arrested After Running From Deputies at Canutillo Middle School in El Paso County

EL PASO, Texas – The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office arrested a 21-year-old man Thursday after deputies said they found him unlawfully on school property in Canutillo after hours.

According to authorities, deputies observed a man inside the grounds of Jose J. Alderete Middle School on May 21.

Deputies made contact with the individual and informed him he was not permitted to be on school property, investigators said. Authorities said the man acknowledged the warning before fleeing on foot.

Deputies pursued the suspect and took him into custody after a brief chase.

The suspect was identified as 21-year-old Roberto Federico Perez. He was transported to the El Paso County Detention Facility.

Perez was charged with criminal trespass and evading arrest or detention. Authorities said his bond was set at $3,000.
