Austin Motel Shooting Victim Dies Days After Attack; Suspect Arrested

AUSTIN, Texas — A man wounded in a shooting at a north Austin motel earlier this month has died from his injuries, and the suspect remains in custody, according to the Austin Police Department.
Police identified the victim as 56-year-old Se Hun Park.
Officers responded May 8, 2026, at approximately 7:32 p.m. to the Budget Inn after receiving reports of a shooting at the front desk of the business.
When officers arrived, they found Park unresponsive with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Investigators said the preliminary investigation determined the suspect, identified as 24-year-old Sean William Walton of Burnet, TX, became involved in a verbal argument with Park before allegedly pulling out a firearm and shooting him.
Authorities said Walton fled the scene in a vehicle.
Detectives with the department’s Aggravated Assault Unit and Crime Scene Unit processed the scene and later obtained an arrest warrant for Walton.
On May 10, officers with the Cibolo Police Department located and arrested Walton in Cibolo, Texas.
Police said Park died from his injuries on May 14, 2026, at approximately 6:48 p.m.
Walton remains in custody in Guadalupe County Jail.
Authorities said the case is being investigated as Austin’s 25th homicide of 2026.
