Motorcycle Crash in Cypress Leaves 19-Year-Old Dead After Multi-Impact Collision

CYPRESS, Texas — A 19-year-old Houston man died after a motorcycle crash Saturday afternoon, April 25th, along Huffmeister Road that involved multiple impacts and ejection, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators said Desmond “Desi” Hooks was riding a Honda CBR 600 southbound in the number two lane of the 10400 block of Huffmeister Road at approximately 4:56 p.m. when he failed to maintain a single lane. Authorities said the motorcycle veered across the number three lane and struck a raised concrete median on the west side of the roadway with its front tire.
After the initial impact, the motorcycle continued off the roadway into a grassy area west of the road, rotating clockwise before striking a concrete culvert with its left side. The force of the collision caused Hooks to become airborne and separate from the motorcycle.
Both Hooks and the motorcycle continued traveling south across a concrete driveway and struck a brick wall at the Pinnacle Apartments property at 10451 Huffmeister Road. Investigators said the motorcycle then continued across the grass before coming to rest on its right side, facing northeast.
Hooks was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the crash.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office Vehicular Crimes Division is investigating the incident.
Family members described Hooks as a Houston native known for his energy, love of gaming and travel, and passion for riding motorcycles. He was remembered as someone who brought warmth and laughter to those around him. A gofundme fundraiser has been established in his memory.
