LEAGUE CITY, Texas — A Seabrook woman has been arrested and charged in connection with the death of a dog at a League City grooming facility, police said.

Lisa Pfund, 56, was arrested on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, and charged with cruelty to a non-livestock animal, a third-degree felony. Her bond has been set at $50,000.

The case began on January 30, 2026, when League City Animal Protection Officers responded to PetSuites League City on Calder Drive regarding a deceased 5-year-old male Goldendoodle. The dog had been dropped off by its owner for grooming services.

The investigation was later transferred to the League City Police Department. Detective Joshua Coward with the Criminal Investigation Division conducted interviews, reviewed surveillance footage, and issued subpoenas as part of the investigation.

Authorities determined the dog’s death was the result of negligence while in the care of its groomer, identified as Pfund. A felony warrant was obtained for her arrest on February 24.

After multiple attempts to locate her, Pfund was found on March 30 at an extended stay hotel on West Bay Area Boulevard in Webster. She was taken into custody without incident by League City detectives and deputies with the Galveston County Precinct 4 Constable’s Office and transported to the Galveston County Jail.

Officials said the department remains committed to thorough investigations and ensuring accountability in cases involving animal cruelty.
