CHAMBERS COUNTY, Texas — Two men wanted in separate murder cases were taken into custody this week in Chambers County following coordinated efforts by sheriff’s deputies, officials said.

Sheriff Brian Hawthorne said the first arrest occurred on March 23, 2026, around 2:40 p.m., after detectives received information that 36-year-old Maico Carbajal-Rosales, wanted in connection with a murder in Tampa, Florida, would be traveling through the county on Interstate 10. Deputies located the vehicle and took him into custody without incident.

A second arrest was made on March 27, 2026, around 1:40 p.m., when detectives received a tip about 30-year-old Tyren Scott of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, who was wanted for murder by the West Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff’s Office. Authorities located the vehicle he was traveling in along Interstate 10 and arrested him without incident.

Both suspects were taken into custody safely, and officials said the arrests highlight ongoing proactive enforcement efforts by the sheriff’s office.

Sheriff Hawthorne said deputies actively monitor for individuals wanted for violent crimes traveling through the area and work to remove them from the community.
