Amarillo Police Seek Public Help to Identify Decomposed Body Found on East I-40
The Amarillo Police Department Homicide Unit is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a male individual whose remains were discovered in an advanced state of decomposition. The discovery took place in a field within the 6600 block of East I-40 on April 12, 2023.
The unidentified individual is believed to be a white male in his 40s or 50s. He was found wearing dentures, and his hair was described as blondish gray, accompanied by a full beard. His attire consisted of western-style clothing, featuring pants with a distinct sharp crease indicative of starch. The male was found within a sleeping bag and had a unique necklace and a very distinct backpack in his possession.
Despite extensive efforts, neither facial recognition nor fingerprint analysis have yielded any information leading to the man’s identity. Following an autopsy, law enforcement has not identified any signs of foul play related to his demise.
