Two Toddler Sisters Drown in Backyard Pool at Katy Home

KATY, Texas – Two toddler sisters drowned Wednesday in a backyard pool at their Katy home after deputies responded to multiple 911 calls reporting a water emergency, authorities said.

Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched just after 11:30 a.m. February 11, 2026, to a residence on Creek Edge Court in the Lakes of Bridgewater community. The initial call came from the children’s grandmother, who reported the girls had drowned.

Emergency medical personnel arrived before deputies and immediately began lifesaving measures. The sisters, ages 2 and 3, were transported by LifeFlight to a nearby hospital, where they were pronounced deceased.

Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez confirmed both toddlers died despite extensive lifesaving efforts.

“This is a devastating loss for the family and our community. Please keep everyone involved — including the loved ones and first responders — in your thoughts and prayers,” Gonzalez said in a statement.

Preliminary investigation indicates the girls lived at the home with their mother and grandparents. Earlier that morning, the grandmother had gone to the grocery store. When she returned, she found the children in the pool and discovered her husband and daughter asleep inside the residence.

Authorities said the grandmother pulled the girls from the water as other family members rushed to assist. Multiple 911 calls were received reporting screams from the home.

Investigators believe the children may have exited the house through a patio door that led to the pool area. The incident remains under active investigation.

Authorities emphasized the importance of close supervision of children around water and encouraged families to learn CPR and basic water rescue skills.
