Eight Arrested in Retail Theft Ring Targeting Major Stores Across Pearland and Greater Houston

PEARLAND, Texas — The Pearland Police Department has arrested eight Houston-area individuals accused of operating a large-scale retail theft operation that targeted multiple stores across Pearland and the Greater Houston area.
The investigation began on November 30, 2025, after three female suspects were identified in connection with a theft at an Academy Sports and Outdoors location in Pearland. As the case developed, the Pearland Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit discovered the same suspects were linked to similar thefts at additional Academy locations throughout the region.
Detectives later uncovered a broader network involving five family members who allegedly targeted several major retailers, including Dick’s Sporting Goods, Macy’s, JCPenney, Burlington, TJ Maxx, and HomeGoods.
Over the course of two months, investigators identified and confirmed eight suspects believed to be involved in stealing merchandise and reselling it for quick cash.
On January 28, 2026, Pearland Police executed three residential search warrants, recovering more than $20,000 worth of stolen merchandise.
The following individuals, all from Houston, were arrested and charged with Organized Retail Theft, a third-degree felony:

- Roberto Vega
- Jaime Carrizales
- Maria Prado
- Cristofer Carrizales Prado
Pearland Police credited loss prevention teams from the affected retailers for their cooperation and assistance throughout the investigation, noting their partnership was critical in helping bring the case together.
