Man Arrested in Fatal Shooting at North Houston Short-Term Rental; Second Suspect Still Wanted

Houston police have arrested one of the suspects involved in the fatal shooting of 23-year-old Kevin Fowler on November 21 at a short-term rental property located in the 8000 block of Orebo Street. The suspect, 21-year-old Laderrick Dwayne Dixon Jr., is charged with murder and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He was already in custody at the Harris County Jail on unrelated charges when the new warrants were filed. A booking photo was released by investigators.
A second suspect remains at large. He is described only as a young, slim Black male, and surveillance images of him have been made public as police continue the search.

According to homicide detectives, Dixon and the unidentified suspect went to the rental property looking for Dixon’s girlfriend. The property had two separate units, and the pair approached the wrong one, eventually encountering Fowler. Believing he might be involved with Dixon’s girlfriend, the suspects opened fire on Fowler’s vehicle as he attempted to leave. Fowler was struck and later died at HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest on November 24. Three other occupants in the vehicle were not injured.
Detectives are urging anyone with information on the outstanding suspect to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
