Body of Woman Found in Grassfire Area Identified, Austin Police Seeks Public Assistance in Locating Victim’s Vehicle

Austin Police Department (APD) detectives are seeking the public’s help in locating the vehicle belonging to the victim, Melissa Davis, who was found deceased in the 6300 block of Mesa Drive on Friday, September 29, 2023.

The victim’s vehicle is described as a blue 2016 Toyota 4Runner with Texas license plate KYV3765.

The Austin Fire Department (AFD) responded to a grassfire in the area at around 5:08 a.m. Upon arrival, AFD discovered a deceased person with signs of trauma to the body. APD was notified and launched an investigation into the incident.

Homicide detectives and crime scene specialists processed the scene and interviewed witnesses. The victim was identified as 32-year-old Melissa Davis. The investigation into this case is currently active and ongoing.
