Houston Man Charged with Murder in Fatal Supermarket Shooting, Suspect Remains at Large

HOUSTON, TX – Charges have been filed against 41-year-old Edwin Leonel Caal Gill in connection with the fatal shooting of 50-year-old Gerardo Villalobos Salgado at El Ahorro Supermarket, 3107 Blalock Road, in the Spring Branch Central area. The incident occurred at approximately 4 p.m. on November 7, 2025.
Houston Police Department patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting and found the victim with gunshot wounds inside a vehicle. Emergency personnel pronounced Salgado deceased at the scene.
Detectives H. Martinez and L. Brooks of the HPD Homicide Division identified Caal Gill as the suspect. On November 13, he was formally charged with murder in the 185th Criminal District Court but remains at-large.
