Suspect Arrested After Street Racing Pursuit Ends at Family Gathering in East Houston

HOUSTON, TX – Late Wednesday night, November 11, Harris County Precinct 3 Constable’s deputies attempted to stop a white BMW 530i that was reportedly racing another vehicle along Tidwell at CE King. The driver refused to pull over, leading deputies on a brief pursuit of just over a mile before crashing into a fence outside a family member’s home in the 12000 block of Enchanted Path in East Houston.
The suspect, later identified as Dixon Rochez-Avila, ran inside the house, where family members were gathered for a party. After a short standoff, he surrendered to deputies without further incident.
Deputies discovered that the BMW was a loaner vehicle from Rochez-Avila’s workplace and that his 16-year-old cousin had been riding with him during the attempted race. He was charged with evading arrest and taken to the Harris County Jail. The BMW was towed from the scene.
Constable deputies noted that the second vehicle involved in the alleged race stopped immediately when the traffic stop was initiated. No injuries were reported.
