Houston Man Arrested for Fatal Shooting at Westside Hotel

Houston police have arrested a suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of a man at a hotel located at 2451 Hayes Road in Houston’s Westside. The incident occurred around 3:15 a.m. on Sunday, November 2nd.

The suspect, identified as 23-year-old Gabriel Isaiah Menefee, has been charged with murder in the 263rd Criminal District Court. The victim has been identified as 25-year-old Jaylon Ward.

According to HPD Homicide Division Sergeant R. Montalvo and Detective D. Higgs, officers responded to a shooting call at the hotel and found Ward inside a room with at least one gunshot wound. Paramedics pronounced him dead at the scene.

Investigators determined that Ward had been shot following an argument with another individual inside the room. Further investigation led to the identification of Menefee as the suspect. He was taken into custody on Thursday, November 6, and charged for his role in the incident.

A second individual, 17-year-old Kaleb Bates, was also arrested and charged with theft in the 263rd Criminal District Court in connection with an auto theft related to the case.
