HOUSTON – A 21-year-old woman has been charged in connection with a fatal crash that killed two people early Friday, October 17, on the 2100 block of the Katy Freeway.

The suspect, Ariel Perry Stewart, faces two counts of intoxication manslaughter with a vehicle in the 337th Criminal District Court.

Investigators say Stewart was driving a gray Tesla Model Y eastbound when she failed to control her speed and struck a silver Nissan Sentra. The impact caused the Nissan to spin out, hit a barrier, and catch fire. The male driver and female passenger inside the Nissan were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

A 23-year-old woman who was a passenger in the Tesla was taken to a hospital for treatment. Stewart showed signs of intoxication and was arrested after consultation with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. She was booked into the Harris County Jail.

The identities of the victims are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
