Gulf Coast Auto Crimes Task Force Arrests Six in $1 Million Multi-County Theft Ring

GALVESTON COUNTY, TX – The Gulf Coast Auto Crimes Task Force has arrested six people following a three-month investigation into an organized theft ring targeting storage facilities across Southeast Texas.

Detectives say the group operated throughout Galveston, Brazoria, Harris, Waller, and Montgomery counties, stealing travel trailers, heavy equipment, and utility trailers loaded with off-road UTVs. The suspects were strategic in their approach, often wearing gloves and masks to conceal their identities.

During the operation, investigators recovered two stolen Dodge Ram trucks that had been re-tagged with fraudulent VIN numbers. Evidence collected indicates the group is responsible for more than $1 million in stolen property this year alone.

Those arrested include Derrick Patterson, Shaun Childs, Learon Thierry, Manuel Ramirez, Calvin Jones, and Tangelo Harris.

The Gulf Coast Auto Crimes Task Force thanked several assisting agencies, including:

  • Houston Police Department Auto Theft Task Force
  • Montgomery County Auto Theft Task Force
  • Harris County Constable’s Office Precinct 3
  • Waller County Sheriff’s Office
  • Biloxi, Mississippi Police Department

The investigation remains ongoing, and additional arrests are possible.
