Juvenile Arrested in Fatal Shooting at Porto Rico Road in Houston

Harris County authorities have arrested an 18-year-old male suspect in connection with the fatal shooting of Alberto Navez-Ortiz, 18, which occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. on September 27, 2023, at 9920 Porto Rico Road.

Houston Police Department (HPD) Homicide Division detectives R. Waterwall and C. Vaughn reported that patrol officers responded to a shooting at the address and found Navez-Ortiz unresponsive in the driver’s seat of a pickup truck. The victim had suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.

Witnesses reported that three to four unknown males fled the location in a gray, four-door sedan of unknown make and model.

The suspect, who was a juvenile at the time of the shooting, was arrested on August 6, 2025, on unrelated charges. He was subsequently referred to Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities on a murder charge related to the incident. Due to his juvenile status at the time of the crime, the suspect’s name and booking photos have not been released.

The investigation remains ongoing.
