Teen Arrested in Fatal Shooting at Rosewood Avenue Apartment in Austin

On Friday, August 8, 2025, at approximately 6:46 p.m., Austin Police Department officers responded to a shooting call at 2609 Rosewood Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found Michael Atwood, a male victim, inside an apartment suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Austin Travis County Emergency Medical Services performed life-saving measures, but Atwood was pronounced deceased at 7:08 p.m.

Homicide Detectives and Crime Scene Specialists were called to the scene to process evidence and interview witnesses. Preliminary investigation revealed that a juvenile girl was with her current boyfriend, Douglas Clyde, when Clyde saw the female’s ex-boyfriend, Michael Atwood, and shot him. Clyde then fled the scene.

On August 9, 2025, an arrest warrant was issued for Clyde on charges of First Degree Murder. The Lone Star Fugitive Task Force and Tactical Intelligence Unit located and arrested Clyde on August 11, 2025, in Manor, Texas.

This incident marks Austin’s 38th homicide in 2025.
