Firefighter Injured Battling House Fire in Northwest Houston

On Friday night, August 1, 2025, the Houston Fire Department responded to a residential fire in the 8900 block of Wedgewood Drive in northwest Houston. The fire began around 9:15 p.m., with initial reports suggesting someone might have been inside the home.

Firefighters arrived quickly and launched an offensive attack to suppress the flames. During the response, a firefighter from Station 28 was injured while coming off the roof of the home. She was transported to Memorial Hermann Texas Medical Center, where she is reported to be awake and alert.

The Houston Fire Department’s Arson Division is investigating to determine the origin and cause of the fire.
