Austin Police Arrest Suspect in Deadly Braker Lane Shooting

AUSTIN, TX – On Saturday, July 19, 2025, at approximately 2:07 a.m., Austin Police officers responded to a shooting call at the intersection of 804 East Braker Lane and Dessau Road. A female caller told dispatchers she had been shot and that someone was dead.

Upon arrival, officers located the woman and her boyfriend, an 18-year-old male identified as Comarri Thompson, both suffering from gunshot wounds. Thompson was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

According to detectives, the shooting occurred while the couple was sitting inside a vehicle. A white vehicle reportedly pulled up next to them and opened fire, striking both victims before fleeing the scene.

Homicide detectives and Crime Scene Specialists processed the scene and launched an investigation, which led to the identification of a suspect.

On Wednesday, July 23, 2025, a First-Degree Murder warrant was issued for 25-year-old Kenan Greene. The following day, July 24, Greene was arrested by the Lone Star Fugitive Task Force at a location in the 2800 block of Lyons Road in East Austin. He was booked into the Travis County Jail.

This case is being investigated as Austin’s 34th homicide of 2025.
