Houston Police Investigate Apparent Drowning of 5-Year-Old Girl

HOUSTON – Houston police are investigating the apparent accidental drowning of a 5-year-old girl early Thursday morning.
Officers responded to a call about 12:05 a.m. at an apartment complex pool at 3131 Hayes Road (Hudson at Westchase Apartments). Police said the child was found unresponsive in the water. Two witnesses pulled her from the pool, called 911, and attempted CPR. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene.
Investigators said the child left her home and gained access to the pool area. Surveillance video and witness interviews showed no signs of foul play.
The child’s identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
