Woman Arrested After Struggle During Traffic Stop in Magnolia; Loaded Gun Found in Purse

MAGNOLIA, TX – A woman was arrested following a traffic stop off Magnolia Boulevard after she resisted officers and repeatedly reached for a purse containing a loaded handgun.

During the stop involving a Smart car, the female driver made concerning statements to officers, suggesting she might do something they “wouldn’t like,” while frequently glancing at her purse. Out of caution, officers asked her to step out of the vehicle to separate her from any potential weapon. The driver refused.

When officers opened the driver’s side door to remove her from the car, the woman began reaching for her purse. A struggle ensued as officers attempted to extract and detain her while she continued reaching for the bag. Eventually, officers were able to restrain and detain the woman.

A loaded pistol was found inside the purse the woman had tried to access.

The driver was arrested and charged with Assault on a Public Servant.
