Suspect Arrested in Fatal Shooting at Bellfort Avenue Parking Lot in Houston

HOUSTON, TX — A suspect has been arrested in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred around 6 p.m. on Wednesday, July 9, at 4811 Bellfort Avenue.

Daniel Tevante Comick, 22, faces a murder charge filed in the 262nd State District Court. The victim, a 56-year-old male, has not yet been officially identified pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

Houston Police Department patrol officers responded to reports of a shooting in a parking lot at the location. They discovered the victim suffering from a gunshot wound and transported him to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The Southeast Patrol Division’s Crime Suppression Team quickly identified Comick as the suspect. Officers located him at a hospital where he was being treated for an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. Comick was detained without incident.

Following consultation with the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, Comick was charged and taken into custody for his alleged involvement in the shooting.
