Cybertip Leads to Arrest of Friendswood Man on Child Porn Charges

On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, Andrew Laurents, 27, of Friendswood, was arrested and charged with four counts of Possession of Child Pornography involving victims younger than 10 years of age. His total bond has been set at $200,000.
The arrest followed the execution of a search warrant in the 1500 block of Piney Woods Drive, a joint effort by the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division – Major Crimes Unit and the Houston Metro Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.
The investigation was initiated after receiving a cyber-tip from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC). During the search, detectives seized electronic devices, which led to Laurents being identified as the suspect.
The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office acknowledged the collaborative efforts of the Houston Metro ICAC Task Force, which includes participants from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) – Galveston, Pearland Police Department, La Marque Police Department, La Porte Police Department, Texas City Police Department, and the Texas Department of Public Safety. The Sheriff’s Office also recognized its Crime Scene Unit and Crime Reduction Unit for their assistance in the investigation.
