Motorcyclist Killed in Crash on Eastex Freeway Identified as 42-Year-Old Man

A motorcyclist was killed Saturday evening, June 21, in a single-vehicle crash on the Eastex Freeway near the 1100 block of North U.S. Highway 59.

Houston Police have identified the deceased as 42-year-old Justin McCarthy.

According to HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant R. Dallas and Officer T. Johnson, McCarthy was riding an Indian Roadmaster motorcycle southbound when he failed to maintain a single lane and struck a retaining barricade. He was ejected from the motorcycle and fell into a wooded area beneath the overpass. The motorcycle remained on the main lanes of the freeway.

Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced McCarthy deceased.

The investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
