Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash on Cullen Boulevard Identified

A 44-year-old man was struck and killed by a vehicle Friday night, June 21, in the 13300 block of Cullen Boulevard in the South Acres/Crestmont Park area.

Houston Police have identified the victim as Scott Cavitt. The crash occurred around 8:55 p.m. when the driver of a black Chevrolet Silverado, traveling southbound, struck Cavitt, who was walking outside of a crosswalk.

Houston Fire Department paramedics responded and pronounced Cavitt dead at the scene.

According to investigators with the HPD Vehicular Crimes Division, the driver initially fled but later returned to the scene. He was questioned by police, showed no signs of intoxication, and was released.

The investigation is ongoing.
