Man Beaten to Death at Bissonnet Street Gas Station; 22-Year-Old Charged with Murder

A man has been charged with murder following a deadly assault at a gas station in Harris County.

According to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez, the incident occurred on the morning of Friday, May 23, 2025, at a Synco gas station located at 13102 Bissonnet Street near Synott Road. During the encounter, a 22-year-old male suspect, identified as Lansello Martinez, reportedly believed another man had thrown a beer bottle at his car. In response, Martinez allegedly struck the victim in the head approximately 20 times, inflicting severe blunt force trauma.

The victim, identified as 38-year-old Ye Myint Aung, was transported to a hospital but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on Sunday, May 25, 2025.

Harris County Sheriff’s Office Homicide Detectives began their investigation and traveled to the Synco station where the male had been found. After interviewing the clerk and reviewing security video, they were able to view a brutal assault occur inside and outside of the filling station. A suspect male was observed not only attacking Mr. Aung, but other customers at the business. Mr. Aung received the worst of the assault and his injuries to his head/face were visible on the video. A short time later, Mr. Aung is recorded on another camera at the back of the gas station, losing consciousness and collapsing.

Following an investigation, detectives with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office identified Martinez as the suspect. On the evening of June 2, members of the department’s Violent Criminal Apprehension Team (VCAT) located and arrested Martinez.

He has been charged with murder and is currently booked into the Harris County Jail.
