18-Year-Old Arrested for Child Porn in La Marque; Three Undocumented Individuals Detained

Edgar Javier Escobedo Castillo, 18, has been arrested and charged with Possession of Child Pornography involving a child younger than 10 years of age, following the execution of a search warrant by the Galveston County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division – Major Crimes Unit and the Houston Metro Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. His bond has been set at $40,000.

The investigation began with a cyber-tip from the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC). During the search of a residence in the 600 block of Rosedale Street in La Marque, three adults, including Castillo, were detained, and electronic devices were seized.

An immigration status check by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) – Galveston determined that all three adults present in the residence, Edgar Javier Escobedo Castillo, Nieves Castillo Guzman, 49, and Javier Escobedo Rangel, 49, are currently present in the United States illegally. Immigration holds have been placed on all three individuals.

The Galveston County Sheriff’s Office acknowledged the collaborative efforts of the Houston Metro ICAC Task Force, which includes participants from Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) – Galveston, Pearland Police Department, Texas City Police Department, Hitchcock Police Department, Galveston Police Department, and Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office also recognized the assistance of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) – Galveston, the GCSO Crime Scene Unit, and the GCSO Crime Reduction Unit.
