Man Sentenced to 30 Years in Pearland ‘Jugging’ Case Targeting Elderly Victims

One of five men arrested in connection with a string of “jugging” crimes in Pearland has been convicted and sentenced to 30 years in prison.

On May 23, 2025, Darise Booker, 31, of Houston, was convicted on two felony counts related to organized criminal activity:

  • Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity – Habitual
  • Engaging in Organized Criminal Activity

The charges stem from a series of incidents investigated by the Pearland Police Department between October and November 2023. During that period, six elderly victims were targeted after withdrawing cash from local banks. Suspects followed the individuals and either robbed them directly or burglarized their vehicles to steal the withdrawn funds.

Booker was one of five men arrested and indicted following an extensive investigation by the Pearland PD Special Investigations Unit, with assistance from regional law enforcement. The other suspects identified and indicted in the case include:

  • Dennerick Crew – aged 35
  • Damien West – aged 20
  • Howard Glaze – aged 32
  • Christopher Eugene – aged 20

All suspects are from Houston and are believed to be involved in similar jugging incidents throughout the Houston area.

Pearland Police remind residents that jugging remains an active threat in the region and urge anyone who observes suspicious behavior near banks or ATMs to report it immediately.
