Woman Charged in Fatal Shooting of Man at West Sam Houston Parkway Motel

Houston police have arrested a woman charged with murder in connection with the fatal shooting of a man found at a motel at 1307 West Sam Houston Parkway North on March 9, 2024.
Sheila Virginia Martinez, 23, is charged with murder in the 337th State District Court. She was arrested on Monday, May 19, in Chambers County, Texas.
The victim has been identified as 27-year-old Christopher Gonzalez.
HPD Homicide Division Detectives L. Patterson and N. Henderson reported that patrol officers responded to a shooting call at the motel and found a male, later identified as Mr. Gonzalez, suffering from a gunshot wound. Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced him deceased at approximately 2:50 a.m.
A female, who was in a dating relationship with the victim, initially told officers that the male had shot himself. However, an autopsy conducted by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences determined Gonzalez’s cause and manner of death to be a homicide.
Further investigation subsequently identified Sheila Martinez, the victim’s partner, as a suspect in the incident. She was formally charged for her role on April 15, 2025, leading to her recent arrest. The Chambers County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the arrest.
