Suspect Arrested and Charged in April Double Homicide in Austin

The Austin Police Department (APD) has announced the arrest of Darius Sebastian Hatcher, 26, in connection with the murders of Shamar Roach and Kendrick Parker, which occurred on April 20, 2025. Hatcher was charged with Capital Murder of Multiple Persons on Wednesday, May 14, 2025.
The investigation into the double homicide began after APD officers responded to multiple calls of a shooting at a parking garage located at 2604 Aldrich Street at approximately 9:30 p.m. on April 20th. Upon arrival, officers discovered two males, identified as Kendrick Parker (age 32) and Shamar Roach (age 24), lying on the ground with fatal gunshot wounds. Both men were pronounced deceased at the scene.
Witness interviews conducted shortly after the incident helped detectives identify a suspect vehicle. APD detectives issued a be-on-the-lookout (BOLO) for the vehicle, and later that night, officers with the Manor Police Department initiated a stop on it. Darius Sebastian Hatcher was transported to APD Headquarters, where he was interviewed by detectives and provided a statement regarding the incident.
Through continued investigative work, detectives gathered additional evidence, leading to the issuance of an arrest warrant for Hatcher on Monday, May 12, 2025. The Texas Lone Star Fugitive Task Force assisted in locating Hatcher, and he was apprehended two days later.
According to the original release from APD, preliminary investigation indicated that the shooting stemmed from a child custody dispute between Parker and Roach and another group consisting of a male and a female. The altercation escalated into a physical confrontation, and the male with the female shot Parker and Roach.
At this time, the Austin Police Department has stated that there are no other outstanding suspects related to this case.
